Part 1:

Sample Glossary Entry:

Zeus- Chief Olympian god, who is the brother of both Hades and Poseidon. He is considered the Lord of the Sky, the Rain God, and the Thunderbolt. He is not a perfect god, and can often be deceived. He is known for having lots of affairs with women. His bird is the eagle and his tree is the oak.

Note: The more you write on each name, the more likely you are to receive bonus sheep!

NOTE: If you were absent on the first day, you will need to complete the following survey and turn it in to me. Also, you should complete this pretest before doing any reading in the book.

Most of our work has been in class lately, so there have been few posts. Here is some important information:

The FINAL COPY of your Expository paper is due 5/27, which is the day after Memorial Day.

For 5/22, make sure you have read parts 1 and 2 of the Adventures of Aeneas. Take reading notes for use on a quiz--just in case.

In class on Monday, we worked on writing ONE body paragraph for a paper with the structure oulined here. Please be sure this is ready to turn in.

On Wednesday there will be a reading quiz on the first half of the Hercules story, ending with the 12 labors. Remember you can use any notes you take to help you on the reading quiz.

Unit 2 Test! You may use ONE side of a 3" x 5" card (or piece of paper cut to this size) to help you on the test. This must be handwritten.

There is no homework due today UNLESS you still haven't given me a copy of your Hero's stories.

Today in class we read the first part of the story of Theseus. We worked on a map that showed the highlights of his voyage from his home town to Athens and then to Crete.

If you were absent, instead of a map, you must create an illustrated timeline showing 10 of the events that happen to him up to the point where he kills the Minotaur. Make sure you have an even for each of the 3 bandit encounters he had along the way.

There is no homework assignment due today UNLESS you have not completed your Hero's story. If your hero's story is not turned in, you will be assigned a study club.
