Updates---
We've been doing some class-work lately. Here are some things to check up on if you've been absent:
1. We created and illustrated map of the story of Theseus from the beginning to his trip to Athens. If you were absent, you will want to create a 10 event illustrated timeline that shows his life from birth to his arrival in Athens.
2. We read and jotted down a few notes from the story of Theseus from his escape from Crete to helping to defeat some pesky centaurs. You will need to know who Ariadne, Hippolytus, Hippolyta, and Pirithous are from this part of the story.
3. We began working on some flashcards for review for Unit 2. Here are the names we have done so far:
Polyphemus
Narcissus
Hyacinth
Echo
Adonis
Pyramus and Thisbe
Orpheus and Eurydice
Ceyx and Alcyone
Pygmalion and Galatea
Baucis and Philemon
Endymion
Daphne
Jason
Medea
Pelias
Hylas
Phineus
Talus
Phaethon

Due 11/10 or 11/12 - You the movie critic.
You are either going to write a positive or a negative review of the movie "Clash of the Titans" which is based on the story of Perseus. Since we've been looking at how our expectations of an action movie have been added to the more traditional Greek movie, you will need to emphasize these specific changes in your review.
An example from a positive review:
The addition of the wise and funny side-kick Ammon, provides necessary comic relief and...
An example from a negative review:
The addition of the cool gadget Bubo, a mechanical owl, make it difficult to take the film seriously...
Notice how in each case I identify one of the action movie characteristics from our list and use it to review the film.
